Clearly, the author of this article listed young actor’s names in resemblance and persona of the original characters, so don’t take this as an actual article stating that these actors (including Alex) have already signed contracts to be in the remake of the film.

The 1990 bratpack showcase Flatliners has been grabbed by Columbia Pictures and will be squeezed and loved by the studio, much as Lenny squeezed and loved the rabbit in Of Mice and Men. The original starred Kiefer Sutherland, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Oliver Platt, so it’s pretty obvious that the new one will star Tom Hardy, Jennifer Lawrence, Alex Pettyfer, Penn Badgely, and…Oliver Platt.
The film focuses on a reckless medical student who conducts an experiment on his friends, “killing” them, then bringing them back to life shortly thereafter. However, after a while, they realize that they’re bringing back company from the other side.
The studio is getting Source Code writer Ben Ripley to write the screenplay. While no director or cast has been announced, a producer of the original, Laurence Mark, is back for round two on the remake.
It’s an innocuous enough film that’s got a premise that’s more interesting than much of the stuff coming out today, remake, or not. But will it take the audience on a journey the same way Battleship or Transformers 3 did? Only time will tell.

IGN has released the panel footage from San Diego’s Comic-Con for Alex’s movie In Time, being released October 28th in theaters.
About six months ago, we posted news that Alex Pettyfer had signed on to star in a biopic of Formula 1 British race-car driver James Hunt. But that was a quick announcement and nothing has followed since. Well, I guess what’s followed is that Alex Pettyfer’s subsequent films (I AM NUMBER FOUR and BEASTLY) both bombed at the box office and the actor has destroyed his reputation. So it doesn’t bode well for him that proven star Chris Hemsworth has singed onto competing James Hunt project called RUSH that has Ron Howard attached to direct from a script by Peter Morgan. Me thinks Pettyfer’s project will soon be scrapped, if it hasn’t been already.
To be fair, Howard’s project is different from the one set up at Dreamworks. His focuses on the rivalry between Australian Niki Lauda and James Hunt. The film will presumably follow the events in 1976 where Lauda crashed his Ferrari and nearly died. But he fought back and continued to compete with Hunt before finally losing the World’s Driver Championship title to Hunt. If all goes well, filming will start in early 2012.
