Forget what you’ve heard or read. British import and Dianna Agron ex Alex Pettyfer is just a boring family guy, according to…himself.

And he doesn’t have “thank you” inked above his nether regions, as has been recently reported.

“You know everyone thinks it says ‘Thank you,’” he told me last night in NYC.

So what does the treasure trail tattoo actually say?

“It says my name, ‘Alex.’ It’s boring,” he laughed while taking in the Hugo on Greene Street party at the Hugo Boss store. “He [the writer of the story] said that, not me.”

Since we all know he’s not a fan of L.A. (he called it a “s–thole”), I asked how New York compares.

“I love New York,” he quickly replied, “I love L.A., too. I love both places.”

Come again? Because you sure didn’t sound like you were a fan of Hollywood when you called it “socially disgusting.”

“I don’t think I was so much misquoted but misunderstood,” he explained.

“The most misunderstood boy in America,” his publicist helpfully piped in.

Either that, or perhaps the most reformed?

Figuring there had to be some shocking, off-color quotes left in him, I asked Alex what he would spend his final days doing if the world really ended on May 21.

“I would visit my family and spend the rest of my days with my loved ones,” he offered.

So maybe he’s boring after all. Or maybe not. After all, he’s playing a stripper in his latest movie, which is based on the life of one Channing Tatum.

“I’m a little nervous,” he confessed.

He really shouldn’t be—while his reputation may be bad, he’s pretty easy on the eyes. We’re betting people will pony up money to see him take it off. And at least he’ll finally be able to prove to the world that he doesn’t have the infamous tattoo when he strips down on the big screen.

Obviously, Demi Moore knows her way around the stripper pole. So how perfect that the real-life face of Cougarville wants to play Alex Pettyfer’s seductress in the new Steven Soderbergh film about Channing Tatum’s stripper past?!

Brilliant, we say!

With her hubby Ashton Kutcher going back to work, looks like it’s time for wifey Demi to start punching the ‘ol timecard again, too:

Yes, Demi, we know you got it so here’s your chance to flaunt it!

“Demi met with Steven Soderbergh at Soho House in West Hollywood last week to discuss the film, and she loved it,” a source tells us exclusively. “She’s so excited about the role.” Soderbergh was equally thrilled about Demi doing her Mrs. Robinson thang for his upcoming flick.

The script is currently in the process of being written by Tatum’s close pal Reid Carolin, who has worked with Tatum on three past projects. And Soderbergh has said it’s a “sexy, funny and shocking” Saturday Night Fever 2.0.

And apparently, Demi has her dollar bills at the ready to place in Pettyfer’s pants. Looks like that controversial tattoo of his is about to take center stage!

The project, which is currently being independently funded so that Soderbergh and Tatum can have full control, is the real-life story of Tatum’s pre-Hollywood stripper past.

But with Tatum already at the ripe old age of 31, he and Soderbergh thought it would be best for the 21-year-old toned firecracker Pettyfer to play the 19-year-old male stripper. Tatum will instead play the role of mentor to Pettyfer, teaching his young protégée how to make it on and off the stage.

We really wish Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze were still around, they’re the only things this movie is missing!

Bower, ‘Eragon’ actor Ed Speleers and newcomer Leebo Freeman reportedly are in the running for the role of Jace Wayland.
Last week when Lily Collins stopped by the MTV Newsroom, the 22-year-old “Mortal Instruments” star apologized to fans that the casting of her onscreen love interest — the strong-headed Jace Wayland — had stretched on so long and promised that they’d eventually find the right guy.

According to a new report from TheWrap, the fight to become that “right guy” is now down to three actors: Jamie Campbell Bower (of the “Twilight Saga” films), Ed Speleers (“Eragon”) and newcomer Leebo Freeman. All three hopefuls reportedly tested with Collins late last week on the Sony Pictures lot.

A rep for Screen Gems, the studio behind the project, told MTV News, “We have no comment other than we are actively casting.” Our requests for comments from the actors’ reps were not immediately returned.

Back in January, Alex Pettyfer (“I Am Number Four”) appeared to be the front-runner for the role of Jace, with reports even suggesting that he’d been offered the part. But nothing solid was nailed down, and now some new names have entered the mix.

“It’s been a long process,” Collins admitted to us last week. “In the process of casting something like this, where the characters are so pivotal and people are so enthusiastic, we don’t want to do it wrong. If you rush it, people aren’t as happy. Or you take the time and really seek out the right person to play the role.

“I totally understand everyone wanting to know right away, and I do too — I’m as excited as everyone else,” she added. “I’m an avid fan and reader. But there’s no way to speed up a process when we want to do it right.”
